On the
Island of Beqa, off the main island of
Viti Levu, is Beqa Lagoon Resort. It is a 30-45 minute helicopter ride or a short airplane ride from Nadi International airport. Beqa Island is noted for the world class diving off of its reefs. The island is skirted by stretches of sandy beach laced with mysterious tide pools. You could spend hours picking up shells and broken coral along the beach and watching strange little starfish that move quickly using their legs like an octopus.
Beqa Lagoon Resort private villas (called bures) are large and luxurious. Each bure is elegantly finished with rattan and bamboo and decorated with colorful splashes of fabric and works of art. Every bure is air conditioned, with a spectacular marble lined bath, a king sized bed and a sitting room with a double bed. Every porch has a table, lounge chairs and a wonderful view. In addition to the standard bures there are now spacious (1000 sq.f.) 2-bedroom bures that are perfect for families. These have air conditioning, one and a half baths and are elegantly furnished with artwork as the villas. The upstairs units have a balcony and downstairs have porches.
The chef prepares a wide variety of dishes that amaze even the most experienced gourmet. And the deserts are incredible. The open air Bure Kalou (dining room) is scenic and refreshing. Dining at Beqa Lagoon is an unexpectedly pleasant blend of high class gourmet dining and casual elegance. There is a meal package offered with many choices of the main course every week.
One of the resort's distinctive features is that coral reef heads thrive just a few feet from the beach. Even if you do not dive, you will be able to see many wonders of Beqa Lagoon, such as clown fish, lion fish, lobsters, live corals and lots of other tropical creatures. There are many activities to keep you occupied at Beqa Lagoon Resort, snorkeling, diving, surfing, fishing, kayaking, water skiing, island picnics, hiking, village visits, rafting on a Fijian river, volleyball, and horse shoe toss, to name a few.
